PL Work

Kikue Yamamoto, MA, is a senior facilitator with Personal Leadership Seminars. She has used PL as an executive coaching tool, and also has been teaching a 15-class semester on Personal Leadership at Tohoku University in Japan for seven years.

When Kikue heard about the Personal Leadership Foundations course happening in Crestone, Colorado, in 2002, she was raising two small children and living in Japan. In spite of the logistical complications, she knew the course would be important to her, and flew to the United States to participate in it. She has now been a practitioner of PL for many years.

These days, Kikue is seeing changes in Japanese society and business, as they slowly become more accepting of a practice like PL.

Other Work

Kikue enjoys working as an executive coach, and has a passion for working with people of different backgrounds, facilitating team-building, globalization programs, and localization programs. Her clients include Apple Computer Japan, the US Navy, BASF Japan, in addition to Japanese companies like the Nikon Corporation, the NTT group, and more.

Her initial involvement as an intercultural specialist dates back to New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc., a joint-venture between Toyota and General Motors.

Assessment is another area of interest for Kikue. For six years, she delivered a four-day Intercultural Management Assessment Program (IMAP) at Stanford University in California, through Executive Development International Associates for the NTT group.  She has also delivered numerous seminars in Asian countries.

Kikue is a part-time lecturer, teaching Japanese business and culture, global communication, and intercultural communication basics at Tohoku University Japan. She is certified as an agent for Everything DiSC Workplace through HRD, Japan.

Personal Background

She spent a total of nine years in the USA between 1976 and 1991. She now resides in Sendai, Japan with her Japanese husband. She commutes to Tokyo regularly.

Kikue works in both Japanese and English.
