How PL Works

The PL Practice

One of the most profound things we humans can do today is move away from fear and mistrust of difference. When people come together from diverse backgrounds or with different perspectives, an inherently creative possibility exists. We can choose to move away from fear and toward possibility.

How? By using the principles and practices of PL.

The Personal Leadership practice is straightforward and easy to understand, yet offers a richness and depth that makes it increasingly powerful the more you practice. It is simple enough to learn in a day, and profound enough to last a life time.

Personal Leadership consists of

  • Two principles
  • Six practices
  • A powerful process called the Critical Moment Dialogue®

The principles of mindfulness and creativity are the foundation of Personal Leadership.

The six practices give you a practical way to apply the two principles. Three of the practices involve attending to the way you interface with the world. The other three sustain you, keep you motivated, and help you stay alive to possibility.

The Critical Moment Dialogue brings the practices to life.
Use the CMD at any time to reveal the truth of your experience that is critical to you. By guiding you through an appreciative, reflective personal dialogue, the CMD helps you uncover your own deep wisdom and creativity. It helps you discern your own right action as often as you need and in any given circumstance.

You have to live these practices, not only think about them. The more you practice, the more you maximize your competence in the midst of difference and uncertainty. PL is not a formula or a prescription. Instead, it presents the true power of attentive self-reflection. It guides you toward action determined by your full intelligence.
